Did you know your old attic fan could be behind the water spots you see on your ceiling?

Retex’s Mark Erickson walks us through what a leak caused by an old attic fan looks like from on top of a roof in North Chesterfield, VA, as well as how Retex would repair the issue to keep your home water-tight moving forward.

I wanted to show you real briefly what an old
attic fan looks like. So as I look over my   Shoulder here, here's an old attic fan – you
can tell just by the discoloration, this has   Been up here for a while, and old attic fans tend
to get loose and rust out. You can literally see   The shingle popping up from where I'm at, which is
a leak concern already. And then this nail right   Here is loose, which allows water or anything else
to build its way into there and cause a big issue.   What we would do is we'd come out, we'd pull this
attic fan out, replace that area with a sheet of   Plywood, and then add a ridge vent, which goes
right along the top of the roof, giving passive   Ventilation without an electrical component
that will allow your shingles to get the longest   Lasting lifespan that they can possibly get. So
if you are interested and curious about either   One of these things, please give us a call as we
can come out and do a complimentary assessment   Of your roof to diagnose exactly what we can
do to make your roof last as long as possible.
